I glanced up every time someone pulled into the parking lot. Each time, it was just another random car, heading for the drive-thru, and I’d go back to scrolling through my phone. Eventually though, a familiar vehicle finally pulled up and I grinned, climbing out of my car as he pulled up and parked.
“Hi there,” I said as he got out of the car.
“Hey boo,” he said, giving me a wide smile as he walked up and wrapped me in a tight hug.
When he pulled back, though, I slipped my fingers in his belt loops and held him in place, looking up at him. “You need to stop sending me videos while you’re driving.

Some would call it a husky sort of voice. I, on the other hand, knew it for what it actually was. Someone at work had caught me unsuspecting and given me the flu, leaving me just short of bedridden for nearly a week straight. Even the cat was avoiding me – or rather, the fat bastard didn’t want anything to do with my sneezes and hacking cough.
Alone in my tiny apartment, I sat wrapped up in a blanket, with a mug of steaming chicken broth within reach and videos playing on my laptop, though mostly just for the noise. The problem was, I didn’t want to do anything. Well no, that wasn’t true. I desperately wanted to slee

Their path was easy enough to follow, despite the sun having dropped below the trees. Tania, wrapped in her red shawl, would know the path in her sleep, but it was rare that they made the trek so late in the day. Rayner stood at the door, back straight and his hands clasped loosely behind him. He wore his typical uniform, dark blue and charcoal padded tunic, leather trousers, and thick bracers. Shuffling behind him drew his attention and he glanced back, eyeing the girl sitting on the bed with her hands bound together. She glared at Rayner, doing nothing to hide the hatred in her eyes. Despite everything though, she didn’t say a word.
Rayner turned back at the sound of someone approaching. It was Kadri, with her permanent scowl and hood drawn low. She was taller than him, and stacked with muscle, having grown up in her mother’s smithy.

Adults wandered about the office, glancing her way every now and then, each with a different expression. Pity, worry, disgust, even fear. But she was just a little girl. She hadn’t meant to hurt him. He’d hurt her papa and scared her. It wasn’t her fault!

Janne eyed the girl, noticing the small package she held. “What do you need exactly?”
“I need you to find someone, if you can,” she explained, holding up the package.
Janne frowned. Lena wouldn’t ask if there was another way. “Come with me,” she instructed, waving a hand and walking deeper into the house. Down a dingy hall and up some rickety stairs, the girls made their way to Janne’s tin

Navigators of the Mist - Pledge
A small shape raced wildly through the heavily-trafficked docks of Port Belmona, twisting between and around dozens of pairs of legs, nearly tripping half those it dashed past. In its wake, the small canid-like shape left a winding trail of bright red blood on the ground, skirts and legs of passers-by. At one point, it tried to dart beneath a fish stall along the dock, surprising and knocking over the fisherman selling his catch. The man fell into his table, knocking the baskets of fish to the ground. There was an uproar of laughter from onlookers, cursing from the fisherman, and panicked bark from the animal. There was chaos as the table co

"To others it may seem she was staring blankly into space, not paying attention and being vague, but that wasn't true. Though they yelled at her for it, they just didn't understand. Behind her eyes, a whole new world was coming alive. Colors and creatures more fantastic than imagination itself lived in her heart and mind, whispering of their adventures to her. So while to the rest of the world she may seem like a time waster, she is in reality the magician of a brave new world just waiting to appear." Written by Mikifreaky92
