“You know, Laeth, you made a fatal mistake. You made two mistakes, actually, both of which people in powerful positions often make.” Riddle sneered, her hard grey eyes locked on his.
“And what would that be?” The demon demanded.
Riddle drew a knife and pressing it to his skin before he could blink. “The first: you underestimated teamwork.” She drew the blade across the base of his neck, watching as a line of blood burbled forth.
“And the second?” He growled, refusing to give in.
“You thought you could get away with it.” She let go of him and stepped back, wiping the blade of her dagger on her trousers.
Laeth looked to Riddle. “You won’t kill me. You’re bluffing.” He said, a faint trace of fear making his eyes.
“My dear, you’ve made your third mistake.” She whispered and raised her arms to her crew. “He’s all yours.”
The pirates looked at Riddle, mostly out of confusion. No matter the situation, they rarely resorted to killing, only doing so when they were no other options. To be allowed to take their revenge was something they hadn’t expected.
Sarah Grace, looking tiny as she clutched her arm, stepped forward. She shared a hesitant look with Rowan and Paradox. “Is there no other choice?”
“He cannot be allowed to live. Even if we imprisoned him, he would find a way out. No jail is inescapable. He would get free and wreak havoc that would make his actions today look like child’s-play.” She shook her head. “This is something that, unfortunately, must be done.” Grace nodded and moved out of the way, understanding the choice and really not wanting to be in the way of the vengeful pirates. Riddle turned to the rest of the crew. “This demon is a threat, not only to us but to anybody else he should happen to cross.
Taking that as a sign to go, the ship sprang into chaos as the pirates, now with their powers returned and the taste of revenge burning in their stomachs, pounced on Laeth, each determined to get a hit in. The demon reverted back to his true shape and, with a roar, swept out with his stumpy tail, knocking over a row of pirates.
Laeth went to lift off the ship, presumably to flee, but Yvonne sent arrow after arrow through the soft membrane of his wings. With holes punched through the thin flesh, he was unable to lift off and take flight. Desperation turned him wild, and he crashed around on deck, swiping at pirates who swung nimbly out of the way. Metal ripped through skin, sizzling blood dribbled onto the deck, and the demon’s mighty roar was all that could be heard. Borris lumbered forward and sank his fangs into the demons shoulder, jerking him violently. Claire, not far behind him, buried her blade to the hilt into his forearm, twisting it and then ripping it free before rolling out of striking range.
Finally, Sparky stepped forward, brandishing her scythe, a wicked grin on her lips. “Bye-bye.” She sang. The scythe swung and flew through the demon like a hot knife through butter. There was no resistance, not like there should have been. She struck nothing – not bone or flesh. The blade, though, caught on a smoky shape. A guttural scream of fear and agony filled the air as that shape was ripped away from the demons body, snapping away like an over-stretched rubber band. Sparky caught hold of the smoke and fire licked up her arm, ghostly green fire. It caught hold of the smoke and the entire entity went up in a shower of sparks, raining down onto the deck. Moments passed and, lying at Sparky’s feet, was a small scorch mark.

Grace sat on the bed, grumbling in annoyance as Frederic fitted her into a sling. As she’d expected, Reaper had dislocated her shoulder, though she thanked him for saving her all the same.
“Hello, Miss Grace.” Paradox said, stepping into the infirmary.
At the pirate’s voice, however, she perked up and offered a tired smile. “Hello Paradox. How’re you doing?”
“I should be asking you the same.” He chuckled.
“I’ve certainly been better.” Grace laughed, wincing when Frederic jostled her arm.
“I stopped by invite you to the celebration the other seem to be having.”
Grace nodded, thanked Frederic when he finished, and followed Paradox up onto the deck. It had only been a few hours since Laeth’s reaping, but the crew had set about cleaning up the deck. Claire was enjoying her combat form, remaining close by Truth and Infinity, laughing softly while they talked. Sparky was off with Sora and Zephyr, each showing off their capabilities over fire. Leelu was running around with Sasha and her other summoned creatures, laughing and spinning with glee. Borris was sunbathing, lying on his back so the sun warmed his belly. Aslansa danced in and out of the shadows, laughing heartily when he scared Miyu and Elena, both of whom were talking quietly by the bow of the ship.
Grace smiled and went off by herself. She called Aslansa over and asked him to take her up to the crow’s nest. With a bow, he complied and wrapped an arm around her waist. After stepping through a curtain of cold nothingness, he deposited her where she wished and vanished again. High up, she breathed in the clean scent of the ocean and felt a surge of relief when she saw the skies ahead were a beautiful blue, devoid of any clouds.
“Sarah Grace, where are those cookies you and Aisuru promised me?!” Sparky hollered from down on deck.

And at LAST we have part five. I had anticipated that this little...series thing would go on longer, but I wrapped it up pretty quickly. I think it was a bit rushed, but it's about time I did something short. Anyway, I hope you all enjoyed the Powerless Pirates ^-^

"Well. That was a thing," grinned Talia, sitting in the ropes below the crow's nest. "When I was little, I always wanted to be normal. Thankfully, I grew out of that horrid phase. Still, I'm glad for the experience."
